Garlic butter steak with creamy mashed potatoes be
Ingredients (for 4 people)
For the steak with garlic butter
4 steaks (ribeye, false or fillet mignon)
2 tablespoons of the olive oil
4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
60g of soft butter
1 teaspoon of fresh thyme, chopped
1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
For creamy mashed potatoes
800 g potatoes, peeled and cut into pieces
50 g of soft butter
100 ml thick sour cream or whole milk
50 g of grated cheese (parmesan or gruyere, optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
1. Preparing the mashed potatoes
Cook the potatoes in a large saucepan of salted boiling water for 15-20 minutes or until tender.
Drain and put the potatoes back in the hot saucepan to remove excess water.
Add butter, sour cream (or milk) and grated cheese (if using).
Smash or whip until you get a smooth and creamy puree.
Season with salt and black pepper.. Keeping warm.
2. Preparing the Garlic Butter
Melt the butter in a small skillet over low heat.
Add minced garlic, thyme and parsley. Cook for 1 minute, until garlic is slightly golden brown and fragrant.
Pull out the fire and book.
3. Cooking the steaks
Take steaks out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature.
Season generously both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over hot heat.
Cook the steaks according to your favorite cooking:
Blue: 1-2 minutes per side
Bleeding: 2 to 3 minutes a side
FT: 4 to 5 minutes a side
Reduce heat to medium and add some garlic butter to the skillet to water the steaks while cooking.
4. Assemble and serve
Place steaks on a plate and let sit for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
Serve steaks topped with leftover garlic butter.
Have a generous portion of mashed potatoes on the side.
